FIS events for CSC training programme students – SPRING 2018
The events below are for Chinese University English Teachers on the CSC training programme.
Some of our main events are open to all, some are special events for this CSC group, including the Culture Course afternoons, which will be more detailed but cover the same topics as the Culture Course evenings (N.B. the Culture course evenings on the main programme are only for degree and Masters/PhD students only).
Please click on the title of the event below, which will allow you to book a ticket via the eventbrite website. The booking for each event usually opens two to three weeks in advance of the event.
Sat 6 January – Beetle Game – join with other International students for a fun game using dice and drawing beetles (the bug) and tea and cake. 2.30-4.30pm at Swaythling Baptist Church, Fleming Road, SO16 2JD.
Mon 22 January – A Jane Austen Evening with Dr Nigel Paterson. 7.30-10pm at Portswood Church, Portswood Road, SO17 2FY. Two sessions about Jane Austen’s life and works with refreshments in the middle.
Fri 26 January – Culture Course 1: Queen Elizabeth, 2-4pm at 8 Bassett Crescent East, SO16 7PB. Talk followed by tea and cake
Fri 9 February – Culture Course 2: Kings and Parliaments. 2-4pm at 8 Bassett Crescent East, SO16 7PB. Talk followed by tea and cake
Sat 17 February – Pancake Evening – join with other International students to make and eat pancakes and find out more about why we eat them during Lent and what Lent is. 7-9pm at Central Baptist Church, Devonshire Road, SO15 2GL
Fri 2 March – Culture Course 3: Scotland and England. 2-4pm at 8 Bassett Crescent East, SO16 7PB. Talk followed by tea and cake
Sat 17 March – New Forest Walk and cream tea. Time and travel details to be confirmed nearer the time.
