English History, Culture and Beliefs Course 2: English Judicial System – Courts and Justice

Dinner and discussion at the home of Richard and Margaret Blake, and an opportunity to learn more about English culture, history and beliefs. This event is free, but booking in advance is essential, as it is very popular, and numbers are limited.

This culture course evening looks at the English Justice system and will cover: How the Courts work – Magistrates and Crown Courts, Prosecution and defence lawyers, Judges, juries and  JPs. For the afternoon session, Richard will be speaking, whilst for the evening, there will be a guest speaker who is a practising Barrister,

This event is free, but booking in advance is essential, as it is very popular, and numbers are limited to 30 people. Please book a free ticket via eventbrite. This event is not suitable for children under 10.

This event is run twice:

  • from 2-4pm (with tea/coffee and cake) for the Chinese University English Teachers enrolled on the CSC training programme.
  • from 7-9pm (with a hot meal) for all other international students.  A hot meal (with vegetarian options available) is followed by puddings, and then a talk from Richard plus a special guest.
