Dinner and discussion at the home of Richard and Margaret Blake, and an opportunity to learn more about English culture, history and beliefs. A hot meal (with vegetarian options available) is followed by puddings, and then a talk from Richard. In this culture course evening, Richard Blake will be telling us how England’s island status and the sea have shaped the nation’s experience of peace and war, of trade and recreation – a defensive moat and a highway to the world.
The evening will be especially relevant for those who have booked tickets to come on the trip to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard on the following weekend.
This event is free, but booking in advance is essential, as it is very popular, and numbers are limited.
