Tickets approx – £30.50 (adults), or £29 with valid student ID (please bring with you on the day) – includes return transport by coach from Southampton/Winchester, and entrance to Windsor Castle.
Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world and the Official Residence of Her Majesty The Queen. Its rich history spans almost 1000 years, and it has been the home of 39 of our monarchs.
The Castle covers an area of about 5 hectares (13 acres) and contains
• Magnificent State Apartments furnished with treasures from the Royal Collection
• St George’s Chapel (one of the most beautiful ecclesiastical buildings in England and the burial place of 10 monarchs)
• Queen Mary’s Dolls House, a masterpiece in miniature
• The Drawings Gallery featuring an exhibition
This is a great opportunity to visit both the castle (The Queen’s favourite weekend home) and to see the town of Windsor. The town is situated 21 miles west of central London. It is immediately south of the River Thames, which forms its boundary with Eton.
Cost of tickets includes return coach travel, and also group entry tickets to the Castle, including the famous State apartments. See the Windsor Castle website for a taster of what to expect on our visit. On our trip a few years back, some of our group even spotted the Queen herself in person!
Tickets (£30.50 for adults and £29.00 for students with valid Student ID) are now available from Susan Caddy or Carol Zhang at any Friends International event, or at International Cafe on Monday evenings.
If you are a student in Winchester then please contact Susan (email@example.com) to arrange to buy a ticket.
