Historic Winchester Tour

Join us for a guided tour of Historic Winchester. Winchester is the former capital city of England, and has many historical buildings and places of interest, including the Cathedral and the new Kings and Scribes: the birth of a nation exhibition, Wolvesey Castle and Palace, the river and watermeadows.

The tour will start at 10am when we meet outside the main entrance to Winchester Cathedral.

If you live in Winchester then please meet us outside the Cathedral at 10am.

If you are travelling from Southampton, please take the 9.18am train from Southampton Central or join the same train at 9.25am from Southampton Airport Parkway (the U1A bus goes to Southampton Airport Parkway Station from Highfield Interchange). Click here for the Unilink bus routes and timetables. You will need to buy a return train ticket before you get on the train. Kerry and Susan will be at Southampton Central Station, they will be at the platform 4 entrance by the ticket machines, so you can join them if you would like to travel with the group. Having got off the train, we will meet outside the main entrance of Winchester Station (Platform 2 side, signed to the city centre) at 9.35am and walk down to the Cathedral to join others and start the tour at 10am.

Our tour will finish outside the Great Hall by 1pm and you can then visit the Great Hall (£2.50 students and £3 adults), explore Winchester city centre yourself or return home.  For more information on Winchester, see www.visitwinchester.co.uk

Tickets must be booked in advance but you do not need to pay in advance. On the day you will need to pay for your train fare if you are travelling from Southampton to Winchester (£7.40 return from Southampton Central Station and £5.60 from Southampton Airport Parkway) and the entrance ticket for the Cathedral which is £6 for students with a student card and £9 for adults and is valid for 12 months so you can visit again as often as you like.

Please book your ticket via Eventbrite
