Faith
If you have recently arrived here, you may be surprised to find that although Britain is historically a Christian country, most people are not practicing Christians. Southampton is a city with 217,000 people, over forty languages, and fourteen different faiths represented. Friends International is a Christian organisation, and therefore we have strong links with local churches and Christian groups in Southampton.
Bible Courses & Bible Studies
Do you want to get to know more about Christianity? Are you a Christian who wants to grow in your understanding of the Bible? Bible studies run throughout the term, for both groups and individuals.
Friends International staff and volunteers meet with individuals and groups to study the basics of Christianity. Christianity has played an essential part in the development of the history of Britain and its culture, although sadly today much of our "Western lifestyle" is opposed to Christian values. Friends International believes in the living God and the Bible as his word to us, and therefore that Christianity is still very relevant today for all people everywhere.
Explore Christianity with Friends International
A 10 week course exploring the basics of Christianity (called Explore Christianity with Friends International) will be running on Thursday evenings in the city centre, at Above Bar Church, 69 Above Bar Street, SO14 7FE (on the corner of Ogle Road and Above Bar Street) from 7.30pm (or meet at the Highfield Interchange to catch the U1 bus). The evening starts with a free meal, followed by a short talk about the bible, and then the chance for questions and discussion in small groups. For more information, see the website: www.iexplored.info
A Bible study for international ladies of any religion runs during school term time on a Thursday afternoon, near the University. Afternoon tea and cakes are provided.
To sign up for one of these courses, please fill in your details below, or send us an email. These activities are entirely optional and open to people of any faith or none.
