for international students in Southampton and Winchester

International students and visiting scholars are welcome to join us at any of our events.  We organise a programme of events for those studying in both Winchester and in Southampton.  There are opportunities to meet local people, make friends, and learn about British culture, customs and beliefs.

COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update

We are sorry that University terms have finished early and that many of you are not able to travel as you had planned over the next few weeks. We hope that you and your families, both here and around the world, are well.

The current Government Guidelines as of Monday 23rd March can be found in full on the Government Website https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus and is as follows:

Stay at home

  • Only go outside for food, health reasons or work (where this absolutely cannot be done from home)
  • Stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people
  • Wash your hands as soon as you get home

Anyone can spread the virus.

You should only leave the house for one of four reasons:

  • shopping for basic necessities, for example food and medicine, which must be as infrequent as possible.
  • one form of exercise a day, for example a run, walk, or cycle – alone or with members of your household.
  • any medical need, or to provide care or to help a vulnerable person.
  • travelling to and from work, but only where this absolutely cannot be done from home.

These four reasons are exceptions – even when doing these activities, you should be minimising time spent outside of the home and ensuring you are 2 metres apart from anyone outside of your household.

Please do contact us if you need any advice about how to manage in these next weeks and do join us for some of our “online events”.
