International Women’s Club

The International Women’s Club, IWC, is linked to the University of Southampton, and is run by volunteers. IWC meets on Wednesdays from 10.30am to 12 noon at 58 Chamberlain Road. These meetings are friendly, relaxed and informative, with a programme of talks and demonstrations. Children are welcome but are the responsibility of their mothers at all our meetings. The group offers:

  •  a social meeting place for women of all nationalities
  •  help with English conversation
  •  a friendly atmosphere and the chance to meet new people
  •  opportunities to learn about other countries
  •  information about schools, transport, health and other topics

IWC meets on  Wednesdays at 58 Chamberlain Road (SO17 1PS) from 10:30am to 12:00noon.

  • Wednesday 6, 13, 20 and 27 September – Coffee mornings
  • 4 October – Holiday memories
  • 11 October – Colours: their significance in different cultures/languages
  • 18 October – NHS & Health & Social Care in your country
  • 25 October – Half-term holiday: Coffee Morning and Games
  • 1 November – Visit to the Hansard Gallery
  • 8 November – Bilingual education & learning difficulties
  • 15 November – Music & Dance
  • 22 November – Russia &Tajikistan presentation
  • 29 November – Visit to Haskins & Hobbycraft
  • 6 December – Craft morning
  • 13 December – Christmas customs & songs

Members are welcome to bring their pre-school children. Toys are provided.  However, mothers are responsible for their children at all times.

The programme is usually very varied, and includes some outdoor activities, such as this gardening morning
58 Chamberlain Road, (SO17 1PS) the usual meeting place of IWC.  Chamberlain road is just behind the Physics and Geography buildings on the Highfield Campus.
